Respite Page 1Multicultural Respite Aged and Disability Services

The Fraser Coast Multicultural Respite Care, Social Support and Group Activities for the frail aged and people with a disability and their carers that are from a culturally or linguistically diverse background.

  • Flexible Respite is available for carers who are in need of “time out” for various reasons knowing their loved ones are in safe hands.
  • Social Support - Group is also available where clients enjoy socialisation and recreational activities.
  • Social Support - Individual is available, where volunteers visit client’s on a weekly basis. Services available include home visits, shopping, medical appointments or other personal needs or just going out for a cuppa.
  • Recreational activities are conducted from various community locations on the Fraser Coast including the “Multicultural Community Garden which provides a special place and opportunities for people to share stories, food, culture, gardening ideas and traditions.

Clients are actively encouraged to participate in our weekly Centre Based Activities. Every Wednesday we hold a picnic morning tea and lunch for around 20 participants. Activities include walks along the beach, BBQ, bus trips, community events such as Seniors Week and Scooter Convoy, and luncheons, also joining with Kalang respite in NAIDOC Week.

Other venues we have visited in the Fraser Coast region include:

Urangan Community Centre, Hervey Bay Museum, Hervey Bay art Gallery, Gatakers Art Space, Burrum respite Centre, Urangan Botanical Gardens talks, Mary Anne Train Museum, TESS wildlife Farm in Maryborough, Woocoo Shire Park, Bamboo Land, Howard Museum, Poona, Maryborough Museum, Burrum Heads, Toogoom, Teddington weir and scenic beach and foreshore locations".

Asian Women's Carers Social Group - Occurs fortnightly, attending Culture Caf each month and having picnics sharing food, stories and their culture.

Newly forming Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Transgender and Intersex (LGBTI) Respite Social Outing. Anyone interested in attending this new group please call (07) 4194 3070.
