Migrant Page 1The Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre Migrant Settlement Program provides free assistance to refugees or migrants with low levels of English who have been in Australia less than five years  (Visa and other eligibility criteria may apply)


The Migrant Settlement Program provides free assistance to refugees or migrants with low levels of English who have been in Australia for less than 5 years.

Assistance Included:

  • Promotes economic and personal wellbeing, independence and community connectedness
  • Facilitates pathways to learning English, education and employment readiness.
  • Support with resumes, recognition of prior learning, work experience contacts and volunteering opportunities.
  • Information sessions and workshops
  • Document assistance including Australian Citizenship applications
  • Skilled Migrant family support
  • Support for women from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds to access domestic and family violence services
  • Assistance seeking and/or applying for accommodation

  • When the operator answers, say the language you need.
  • Stay on the line while the operator calls an interpreter
  • The operator will ask you to provide your name and the name of the organisation you wish to contact – our name is the Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre Migrant Settlement Program

  • You and the interpreter will need to stay on the line while the operator calls us
  • If your call goes to a message bank, ask the interpreter to leave your name, your telephone number and the language you speak and someone will call you back using an interpreter.
